When Song Hye Kyo got married, some were surprised by her choice of wedding dress – a modest three-quarter-sleeved dress with lace accents. But given the weather in Seoul at that time (it was around 14 degrees Celcius), and the fact that her wedding was held outdoors, her decision to go with a long-sleeved number shouldn’t come as a surprise.

The dress is, in fact, a bespoke Dior dress. The brand revealed on their official Instagram yesterday that it was designed by their Artistic Director Maria Grazia Chiuri.

In another Instagram post, the brand said that their seamstress “dedicated an almost unimaginable number of hours labouring over everything from the tiniest stitch and up in order to produce Song Hye Kyo’s immaculate wedding dress”.

According to The Korea Herald, the dress was remade from Dior’s Fall 2017 Couture collection, albeit with silk replacing the original velvet fabric, and lace detailing added to the neckline.

The dress that Hye Kyo’s wedding gown drew inspo from.

This is not the first time Dior has designed a wedding dress for a celebrity. Last year, they created a gown for Chinese actress Angelababy that took five months to make.

Earlier this year, Miranda Kerr also wore a Dior dress during her private wedding ceremony.
