How much would you pay to get close to your idol? What if it’s close enough for you to smell his or her natural scent?
The good news for fans of Big Bang’s T.O.P is that you can bid for his personal pillow at the Sotheby’s auction as part of the #TTTOP collection, specially curated by the rapper himself.
The bad news? There’s only one up for grabs – and you’d have to be willing to part with at least $17,000. Or based on the current exchange rate (at the time of publishing), $17,627.98.
Sotheby’s puts the price estimate for the pillow to be between HKD100,000 to HKD150,000 ($26,432).
“But oppa is already so rich, why would he want more money?” might be the first thought that came to your mind. Well, the money is not really going into T.O.P’s pocket. According to the Sotheby’s website, “The artist has generously agreed to donate a significant share of the hammer price of this lot to the Asian Cultural Council in addition to the portion of profits that Sotheby’s donate for all lots in this auction.”

If you’re wondering why the signature on the pillow doesn’t look anything like his, that’s because it’s not T.O.P’s signature, but that of renowned Japanese artist, Takashi Murakami. T.O.P had personally commissioned Murakami to design the pillowcase, which means it’s highly likely that it’s one-of-a-kind.
So you’re basically paying for T.O.P’s personal pillow and Murakami’s artwork. Is that worth $17,000? You decide.
