Father’s day is just around the corner (this Sunday, June 16), and if you haven’t made any plans to treat the most important man in your life, don’t fret ‘cos we gotchu. Whether you’re thinking of an atas brunch by the river or a big buffet for your meat-loving dad, here are 7 spots to pamper your dad at this Father’s Day.
Les Bouchons Rive Gauche
Treat your dad to a classy champagne brunch by the river at this French eatery at Robertson Quay. Available from 11.30am to 3.30pm, the new brunch menu comprises classic French dishes like Escargots De Bourgogne with garlic butter and toast, $16++; Eggs Mimosa with sauteed garlic asparagus, $14++; and Les Bouchons’ claim to fame, Grilled Black Angus Rib Eye Steak served with vigneron butter and a free flow of hand-cut french fries (which gets our vote for best fries on the island, hands down), $39.80++. If daddy’s on a diet, treat him to the Gueule de Bois, also known as the Bouchons Hangover Cure, $24++. While a hearty meal in its own right, it’s a surprisingly healthy dish of “Impossible” meatballs, scrambled eggs with truffle oil, sautéed porcini mushrooms, roasted cherry tomatoes and asparagus on a toasted sourdough bread.
Les Bouchons Rive Gauche is at 60 Robertson Quay.
Give your rugged, tough-guy dad a surprise by treating him to a posh champagne brunch that comes with a magnificent view too. For S$98++, a free-flow of Italian-American favourites await, such as LAVO’s signature one-pound meatball, fresh Irish oysters and charred octopus with fennel and red wine vinaigrette. Top up $60 for the free flow alcohol, which includes Veuve Clicquot champagne and a selection of brand new bourbon cocktails such as Maker’s Manhattan for the occasion. All dads will also receive a chic bow tie gift (so get your dad to wear a shirt for the occasion).
LAVO Singapore is at Marina Bay Sands Singapore.
Papa will be treated like a king at Cantonese restaurant Mitzo’s Enhanced Weekend Brunch. Available from June 15 to 16, from 11.30am to 2.30pm, the brunch will feature an exclusive dish for Father’s Day—a fresh Seabass topped with red yeast & garlic in soya sauce. You and Dad can also indulge in infinite servings of over 50 different types of Cantonese dim sum dishes, roasts, soups and desserts alongside other special dishes such as steamed bamboo clam with minced pork sauce, lobster with minced pork & soya milk congee, and stir-fried abalone with asparagus in XO sauce. Yum.
Mitzo is at Level 4 Grand Park Orchard.
Song of India
If your dad’s a big foodie, treat him to a Michelin-starred meal at The Song of India, which is offering a Father’s Day Brunch Buffet at just $46.90++. While we think that’s pretty affordable as it is, get this – your dad’s meal is on the house with every group of four diners! The buffet comprises Northern Indian delights including Lucknowi Chicken Biryani with fluffy basmati rice and Kashmiri Lotus Root Korma, where lotus roots are cooked in a thick, creamy curry. A special live station will also be set up just for the occasion, offering freshly made, traditional Rice Hoppers with Coconut Pumpkin Stew, a popular street food from Kerala. If dad’s a big fan of cocktails, head over to the adjacent Amrith, which offers one-for-one cocktails, mocktails and beers just for Father’s Day.
The Song of India is at 38 Scotts Road.
Yardbird Southern Table & Bar
Does Dad love smoky, grilled meats on the barbecue? Bring him to Yardbird Southern Table & Bar, a restaurant known for its farm-fresh ingredients and classic Southern cooking. Its Father’s Day special is a Smoked Pork Ribs and Pabst Blue Ribbon draft beer set (S$48++ for a full portion of ribs and a glass of beer). Grilled then smoked to perfection, the fork-tender meat glides off the bone with a glazed rim of charred bits, boasting rich and satisfying flavours. Psst, keep Dad happy (but make sure he doesn’t drive) with two hours of free-flow draft beer (additional S$40++).
Yardbird is at Marina Bay Sands Singapore.
Jamie’s Italian (VivoCity)
If your dad’s a meat lover, this platter of scrumptious grub will have him groaning with satisfaction. Jamie’s Italian’s Fantastic Father’s Day plank ($108++), which is only available at its VivoCity outlet, features hulking portions of meat. A 1kg slab of oven-roasted Australian Tomahawk takes centrestage, accompanied by sides of kurobuta sausages, Shepherd’s pie, and polenta chips. Make sure you knock back a refreshing pint of Tiger Beer (or make that two!) with pops, as the restaurant is having a special promotional price of $12++ per 500ml (U.P. $16.95++).
Jamie’s Italian is at #01-165 VivoCity.
Carousel is known for its mouthwatering local and international delicacies, so bring Dad here if he’s a traditionalist at heart. We recommend the high tea session, $55++, as it offers interesting bites such as Tau Kwa Pau (Tau Kwa stuffed with Minced Duck and served with Special Chilli Sauce), Yam Abacus Seeds (Suan Pan Zi), Laksa, Popiah from a live station and Oyster Omelette. If your dad’s a fan of teh tarik, good news—there’s a live station where a pulled-tea specialist is on hand to whip up your dad a fresh and creamy cuppa!
Carousel is at Royal Plaza on Scotts.
